Changes in the last month
The monthly rate of change was positive in the export and import markets, but negative in the domestic market in March. This resulted in a positive monthly rate of change for both Producer Price Index and Price Index for Domestic Supply during the same period.
The largest negative contribution in the domestic market came from lower prices for trade services of electricity. Prices also fell for district heating and distribution services of electricity. This downturn was partially offset by higher prices for refined petroleum products and fabricated metal products.
In the export market, the main upward contribution came from higher prices for refined petroleum products. Prices also rose for chemicals and chemical products, basic metals as well as motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers. Price increases for other machinery and equipment, pulp, paper and paperboard, medical and dental instruments and supplies, as well as waste collection, treatment and disposal- and materials recovery services also contributed upwards. This upturn was partially offset by price decreases for generation of electricity.
The main contribution to the increase in the import market came from higher prices for crude oil. Prices also rose for refined petroleum products, chemicals and chemical products, computers and peripheral equipment as well as basic metals. Prices for natural gas, other machinery and equipment, food products, electrical equipment and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers also contributed upwards. This upturn was partially offset by price decreases for generation of electricity.
