Lower annual rates for services prices in the third quarter of 2025

The Services Producer Price Index rose by 0.2 percent in the third quarter compared to the second quarter 2025. Prices increased by 0.6 percent on the export market and decreased by 0.2 percent on the import market. On the domestic market, prices rose by 0.1 percent. The annual rate according to the Services Producer Price Index was 1.3 percent in the third quarter (1.5 percent in the second quarter).

Changes during the last quarter
The quarterly rate of change was positive on the domestic and export markets, but negative on the import market in the third quarter. This resulted in a positive quarterly rate of change for both Services Producer Price Index and Price Index for Domestic Supply during the same period.
The main downward contribution on the domestic market came from lower prices on support services for transportation. This downturn was somewhat offset by higher prices on air transport services and rental and operating services of own or leased real estate.
On the export market the main contribution came from higher prices on telecommunications services. Prices also rose within freight transport services by road and removal services as well as sea and coastal freight water transport services. This upturn was somewhat offset by lower prices on air transport services, support services for transportation, software publishing services, computer programming, consultancy and related services as well as management consulting services.
The main contribution to the decrease on the import market came from lower prices on advertising services. Prices also fell within telecommunications services as well as accounting, bookkeeping and auditing services, tax consulting services. This downturn was somewhat offset by higher prices on computer programming, consultancy and related services as well as several other different services.

Changes in the last year
The annual rate for the domestic market was 2.1 percent in the third quarter (2.6 percent in the second quarter). The annual rate for the export market was -3.6 percent during the same period (-4.3 percent in the second quarter). On the import market, the annual rate in the third quarter was -3.6 percent (-2.5 percent in the second quarter).
This resulted in an annual rate of change of 1.3 percent for the Services Producer Price Index in the third quarter of 2025 and an annual rate of change of 1.5 percent for the Price Index for Domestic Supply during the same period.
Several sections contributed to the positive annual rate of change for the total Services Producer Price Index. Administrative and support services as well as professional, scientific and technical services contributed with 0.5 percentage points each. Real estate services contributed upwards with 0.3 percentage points. Hotel and restaurant services contributed upwards to the annual rate by 0.2 percentage points.
Information and communication services had a negative contribution to the annual rate by 0.2 percentage points. Transportation and storage services contributed downwards to the annual rate by 0.1 percentage points.

An appreciation or depreciation of the Swedish currency lowers or raises export and import prices in Swedish kronor. Prices at the producer and import stages are converted from foreign currencies to Swedish kronor according to the Riksbank’s exchange rates.

The Producer Price Index home sales (HMPI) measures changes in Swedish producers’ prices of products sold in Sweden.
The Export Price Index (EXPI) measures changes in Swedish producers’ prices of products sold outside of Sweden, both within and outside the EU.
The Import Price Index (IMPI) measures changes in the prices of imports of products into Sweden.
The Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) measures changes in the prices of Swedish producers’ total sales, obtained by combining the HMPI and the EXPI.
The Price Index for Domestic Supply (ITPI) measures changes in the prices of products sold in Sweden, obtained by combining the HMPI and the IMPI.
