Statistical news from Statistics Sweden 2026-10-05 8.00

The internet has become an integral part of everyday life for many older people. They use digital services for everything from communication and information seeking to healthcare contacts, banking services, and entertainment. At the same time, statistics show that internet use varies across age groups, with younger older adults generally using more digital services than the oldest age groups.

In 2026, 86 percent of the population aged 16 years or older used the internet several times a day. The corresponding share was 77 percent among people aged 65–74, 58 percent among those aged 75–84, and 32 percent among people aged 85 or older. In other words, internet use declined with age.
